Watch: Romain Duris in Exclusive Trailer for French Thriller 'The Big Picture' (VIDEO)

Eric Lartigau’s French thriller “The Big Picture” opens in New York at the Lincoln Plaza Cinema and IFC Center on October 12, and we’ve got the exclusive North American trailer for the release. Adapted from Douglas Kennedy’s novel of the same name (he also wrote “The Woman in the Fifth,” the film adaptation of which was released last June), the film stars Romain Duris, who starred as a pianist in Jacques Audiard’s brilliant 2005 film, “The Beat That My Heart Skipped,” as well as last year’s romantic comedy “Heartbreaker” (in which he does a fine job charming Vanessa Paradis and performing some “Dirty Dancing” moves).

In “The Big Picture,” Duris stars as Paul, a partner in a top Paris law firm with a perfect family who loses everything when he discovers his wife is having an affair and he makes a fatal error. Watch the trailer and read the complete synopsis below:

Paul Exben is a handsome and successful thirty-something Parisian corporate lawyer with a beautiful wife, two children, and a glimmering future as a partner in the firm he co-owns with his mentor, Anne (Catherine Deneuve). But behind this deceptively perfect bourgeois façade lies a desire for creative fulfillment, a restless spirit who despises his conformist life and envies the freedom of his neighbor Greg (Eric Ruf) an uncompromising photojournalist.

Greg’s unexpected death throws Paul’s life into chaos, and he makes a startling decision that pushes him into unknown territory. Embarking on a cross-continent odyssey of self-discovery and reinvention, Paul experiences what many have wondered at some point in life: Is it possible to become someone else?
