In the Works: Clooney, Greengrass & Terrio Onboard for NY Crime Syndicate Drama

Producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov and screenwriter Chris Terrio are reteaming after their success with Ben Affleck’s “Argo” on a currently untitled crime movie. Clooney is attached to star, and Paul Greengrass to direct and produce.

Details of the film’s plot are still a secret, but it reportedly is an original story centered in the New York crime syndicate world. The project is in development at Sony, where Clooney’s Smoke House production banner has first look.

Terrio is on a roll, with a first draft of an American remake of “Tell No One” in the works for Warner Bros., and “A Murder Foretold” in the pipeline for Paramount, with producers Mark Roybal and Steve Zaillian. He’s had three scripts on the Black List, including “Argo.”

Meanwhile Clooney will next be seen in Alfonso Cuaron’s much-anticipated, mysterious “Gravity” opposite Sandra Bullock, and is in talks to headline Brad Bird’s next foray into live-action, Disney’s alien-invasion film “1952.” He’s also directing himself in World War II thriller “Monuments Men,” co-starring Daniel Craig, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray and Jean Dujardin, about the rush to save precious art from Hitler.

Greengrass, best known for the second and third “Bourne” films starring Matt Damon, recently finished production on “Captain Phillips,” starring Tom Hanks.
