Juliette Binoche & Clive Owen To Star in Romance 'Words and Pictures' for Director Fred Schepisi

Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen have boarded Fred Schepisi’s “Words and Pictures,” a romantic drama written by Gerald DiPego. The film will be produced by Curtis Burch’s Latitude Productions in association with Gary Cogill of Lascaux Films. The story centers on a charismatic English teacher (Owen) at an insular New England prep school and an intensely private art teacher (Binoche). The pair form an unlikley relationship that complicates their lives.

Burch notes, “it is an enchanting love story colored with a sophisticated humor and would be ideal for Fred Schepisi to direct. It was with Fred’s commitment that we were able to attract Clive and Juliette, who are a perfect fit to create the chemistry between the two leads at the heart of the story.”

Schepisi’s latest was “The Eye of The Storm,” starring Geoffrey Rush; the Australian director is best-known most for his earlier films “Roxanne,” “A Cry in The Dark” and “Six Degrees of Separation.”

Binoche recently appeared in “Cosmopolis,” “Elles” and Abbas Kiarostami’s “Certified Copy,” for which she won the Best Actress award at Cannes in 2010. Up next, she has “An Open Heart,” “La Creatrice” and “A Thousand Times Good Night.”

Owen last starred in “Hemingway & Gelhorn,” and stars in the upcoming “Blood Ties,” which is Guillaume Canet’s (“Tell No One”) English-language directing debut (the cast also includes “Rust and Bone” stars Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts, who we interview here).
