Ryan Gosling's Face Beaten To A Pulp In New Pic From 'Only God Forgives,' Looks More Handsome In 'Gangster Squad' Poster

Some actors and actresses worry endlessly about their image, and how they will appear in each of their projects. Some are resistant to altering the good looks that got them to the top, but for Ryan Gosling, that’s not quite the case. As we patiently await Nicolas Winding Refn‘s upcoming “Only God Forgives,” one thing is certain: Gosling will get beaten up.

The guys over at The Film Stage received this promo image from a reader, who also revealed a clip was shown from the film at the American Film Market (mostly likely where the image is from as well), featuring M83‘s “Sister (Part 2)“. Of course, a remix of that band’s “Midnight City” was also featured in Refn’s Gucci ad starring Blake Lively, so it seems he has a found a new musical muse. Just to recap, the Gosling plays Julian (Gosling), a man living in exile in Bangkok after killing a cop. He runs a Thai boxing club with his brother as a front for the family’s drug smuggling operation, run by his Florida based mom Jenna (Kristin Scott Thomas). But when his brother gets murdered, Julian is put on a path that will find him squaring off against a retired cop named Chang aka The Angel of Vengeance.

Meanwhile, looking a lot more cleaned up and airbrushed, Gosling fronts the latest batch of character posters for “Gangster Squad” (via Flicks And Bits). These sell the period cool of the movie that finds a rogue LAPD squad hunting down famed gangster Mickey Cohen. It opens on January 11th. As for “Only God Forgives,” still no release, but with a Denmark bow apparently slated for April, hopefully the Weinstein’s Radius label, who picked up the movie earlier this year, will have some news soon.
