Stacie Passon Wins Two Women Directing Awards

Stacie Passon has had a big couple of weeks.  First on November 20 she won this year’s IFP Labs/Adrienne Shelly Foundation Director’s Grant for her film Concussion at the Foundation’s second annual Woman of Vision Salute which also honored Lena Dunham.

Concussion (which she also wrote) is finishing up post-production and it was just announced that it will be in the US competition at Sundance. It is being produced by Rose Troche.   The film is about a wealthy lesbian housewife who starts turning tricks in the city. Andy Ostroy, Adrienne Shelly’s widower and Executive Director of the Adrienne Shelly Foundation said this about Concussion:

It’s an important film that tackles adult relationship themes in a very unique manner, forsaking the traditional clichés and presenting them with an honesty and realism with which many couples will surely identify.

And this past Monday night she won the Euphoria Calvin Klein Spotlight on Women Filmmakers ‘Live the Dream’ grant at the Gotham Awards for the same film.  This award comes with a $25,000 cash award and the Adrienne Shelly Award comes with a $5,000 grant.

Here’s a brief interview with her at the Gothams
