Watch: Third Season Announcement Trailer For 'Luther'; 'Wilfred' Also Gets Renewed For Another Season

…and just like that, out of the dark, “Luther” fans have some very, very good news. Idris Elba and the show are back. As for Ruth Wilson and Alice? You’ll just have to wait and see.

Yesterday, a trailer dropped by surprise online announcing the third season of the acclaimed show, but details were cryptic. The filmmakers promised “four perfectly dark chillingly-formed chapters” with production beginning this month. Damn. As for Ruth Wilson? “Only Alice knows,” they tease. As fans of the show know, the character eventually left London, with series creator Neil Cross saying over the summer that the BBC had been interesting in pursuing a spin-off series of Alice, one that would potentially be set in the United States. Could the third season of “Luther” help set that up? We’ll find that out soon enough.

In other TV news: Elijah Wood‘s quirky FX comedy “Wilfredhas been renewed for a thirteen-episode third season. Writer/producers Reed Agnew and Eli Jorné will take over as showrunners from David Zuckerman who is staying on as an executive producer. Writers will start banging out scripts later this month.

Stephen Merchant‘s “Hello Ladies” has received an eight-episode first season order from HBO. In the show, the comedian will play — get this — “a gawky Englishman” who is looking for love in Los Angeles. And of course, things don’t quite go as planned. It’s an extension of his stand-up show, so we’ll see if he can get some mileage out of it.

Lastly, USA has gone ahead and canceledPolitical Animals” starring Sigourney Weaver in case you were one of the few who were watching it.
