Bravo Is Eying a TV Series Adaptation of Robert Zemeckis' 'Death Becomes Her'

Robert Zemeckis’ 1992 film “Death Becomes Her” is a dark comedy about two beauty-obsessed reanimated corpses who spend all their time bickering with one another, so it’s not a wild addition to a network that’s home to “The Real Housewives” franchise.

Variety reports that Bravo is looking into adapting “Death Becomes Her’ into an hour-long drama that Zemeckis would executive produce alongside Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine. The series will be produced by Universal Cable and Lupara Productions, and doesn’t yet have a writer attached.

The original film, an uneven, mean-spirited black comedy, stars Meryl Streep as actress Madeline Ashton and Goldie Hawn as her best frenemy Helen Sharp, a writer. The two battle over first the love of plastic surgeon Ernest Menville (Bruce Willis) and then eternal youth, which they obtain (with some unexpected consequences) from a mysterious woman played by Isabella Rossellini.

“Flight,” which is currently in theaters, is Zemeckis’ first live action film in over a decade.
