Exclusive: Henry Rollins & Eddie Vedder Talk Supporting The West Memphis 3 In Clip From 'West Of Memphis'

Celebrities and rock stars throwing their weight behind a good cause is nothing new. Charitable organizations and awareness campaigns often benefit from famous faces making an appearance or issuing statements to help bring attention to whatever issue is being promoted, but usually that involvement — at least on a public level — tends to be short term. But for those getting involved in the case of the West Memphis 3, three young men wrongfully accused and convicted of murdering three children, it seems it came with the kind of price tags that were unexpected.

In this exclusive clip from Amy Berg‘s upcoming “West Of Memphis,” produced by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, we see rockers Henry Rollins and Eddie Vedder speak candidly about the experience of getting involved in the work that led to the WM3 being freed. Rollins is a bit more philosophical about the controversy his involvement drummed up, while the Pearl Jam frontman is honest about the naivete he had going in, thinking that the boys would be released in no time at all. It’s some refreshingly honest stuff from a documentary that finds a new and equally compelling approach in the coverage of the case, detailed extensively in Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky‘s “Paradise Lost” trilogy of movies.

“West Of Memphis” opens in limited release on Christmas Day. Watch below.
