Watch: First Look Trailer for Showtime's New Dramas 'Masters of Sex' and 'Ray Donovan'

Showtime has an Emmy-winning, critically acclaimed breakout hit on its hands with “Homeland,” and in the new year the premium cable network is preparing to launch two new scripted hour-long series and hoping to replicate that success. The channel’s just unveiled a first trailer that includes footage from both new dramas, which are slated to premiere in 2013.

Masters of Sex” stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as real-life human sexuality scientists William Masters and Virginia Johnson, whose research touched off the sexual revolution. Caitlin Fitzgerald, Nicholas D’Agosto, Teddy Sears, Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale also star in the series, which is adapted from Thomas Maier’s book “Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How to Love.” John Madden (“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”) directed the pilot.

Ray Donovan” stars Liev Schreiber as the titular fixer for L.A.’s most powerful celebrities, business moguls and athletes. The unexpected release of his father (Jon Voight) from prison shakes Donovan and his family to its core. Elliott Gould plays Ray’s client and mentor, Paula Malcomson is Ray’s wife and Eddie Marsan and Dash Mihok are his brothers. Katherine Moennig, Pooch Hall, Steven Bauer, Kerris Dorsey and Devon Bagby also star. The series is created and executive produced by Ann Biderman (“Southland”), with Allen Coulter (“Hollywoodland,” “The Sopranos”) directing the pilot.
