Berlin Completes Official Program; 'Before Midnight' and Final River Phoenix Film In The Mix

The competition of the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival is now complete with 19 of the 24 films in the official programme vying for the Golden and Silver Bears.

Richard Linklater’s “Before Midnight” and George Sluizer’s “Dark Blood” — the long-delayed final film starring River Phoenix — are among the films screening out of competition.

“Young talents and established film artists will present films in which reality and fiction are bafflingly similar. Worldwide independent cinema is undergoing a resurgence. Fast and turbulent: life is hard and unfair – yet still a lot of fun,” said Festival Director Dieter Kosslick.

Twenty-two countries are represented in the lineup, including Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovin]a, Canada, Chile, Germany, France, Greece, Hong Kong/China, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, the Russian Federation, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland and the USA.
