DigiNext In-Venue Film Festival and Sexual Abuse Doc 'Standing Silent'

The DigiNext In-Venue Film Festival, a partnership between Digital Cinema Destinations Corp. and Nehst, aims to provide emerging filmmakers with the chance to reach targeted audiences. They have recently acquired 74 new digital screens across the country, including six in Southern California.

The latest theatrical release of DigiNext is Scott Rosenfelt and Malachi Leopold’s doc “Standing Silent,” about sexual abuse within the Orthodox Jewish community. Synopsis below.

DigiNext’s Bud Mayo states:

“We are introducing a broadening audience to diverse, high quality independent films. Standing Silent and other upcoming titles in the series are timely contributors on topics that are part of a national dialogue.”

The DigiNext In-Venue Film Festival will recreate the festival experience at the theaters listed below by showcasing American indies and foreign films featured at the top twenty festivals around the world. The series will include filmmaker Q & As in-person and via Skype.

Standing Silent follows Phil Jacobs, editor of the Washington Jewish Week, who has begun writing and publishing a series of articles about sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish community.  Jacobs has found what he believes to be clear evidence that several respected rabbis have been able to avoid arrest and recrimination due to the control they wield over the community. In Standing Silent Jacobs fights the orthodox establishment to bring to light the pain and suffering of hundreds of survivors.
