There are few actors on the big screen who command the kind of presence Rutger Hauer brings to the various roles he plays. While he’s mostly known to North American audiences for his roles in genre films such as “Blade Runner,” “Sin City,” “Hobo With A Shotgun” and more, Hauer is also a gifted dramatic actor, and he heads to the Sundance Film Festival this week with a tantalizing drama that should shed some new light on his talent.
Hauer stars in Alicia Scherson‘s “Il Futuro,” an adaptation of the novel by the acclaimed author Roberto Bolano. The actor plays Maciste, a blind former B-movie star who lives alone in a beautiful mansion. He soon crosses paths with the beautiful Bianca (Manuela Martelli), who begins a relationship with him, but is hiding a secret — she has been sent by her brother and his friends, to get close to Maciste as they plan a big heist of his house.
We have the exclusive trailer below for the film, which looks sexy, surreal and thrilling. “Il Futuro” will have its first screening in Park City this Friday, January 19th. Watch below (warning, slightly NSFW).
