Music Videos: Penelope Cruz Shimmies For Miguel Bosé & 'Junebug' Helmer Phil Morrison Directs Yo La Tengo

As crazy as this sounds, we don’t have the best memories of the last time we saw Penelope Cruz wearing little more than some lacy lingerie while singing. In fairness, that’s nothing to do with Cruz herself, but more that said singing in lingerie was taking place during Rob Marshall’s tedious musical “Nine.” Cruz is back singing in her lingerie again, and the result is an altogether more pleasant one – she’s teamed up with the Grammy-winning Michael Bosé on a single from his debut album, Decirnos Adios. You can watch Cruz performing the song (which was composed by her brother Eduardo) in the video below and see whether you think her singing is on a par with her acting.

And though Yo La Tengo can’t boast a lingerie-clad Peneleope Cruz in their new video, “I’ll Be Around” does have the talents of “Junebug” director Phil Morrison, and that’s definitely something worth shouting about. The song is from the New Jersey band’s latest album Fade – their first since 2009, during which year they also provided the beautiful score to Greg Mottola’s fantastic “Adventureland.” It’s an odd but sort of hypnotic video from Morrison, who still hasn’t delivered a follow-up feature to 2005’s “Junebug,” though he has “Almost Christmas” with Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti and Sally Hawkins in post and on our Anticipated Movies Of 2013 list. This lovely Yo La Tengo video will have to do until that arrives, so watch below, and indie rockers take note! That’s Superchunk‘s Mac McCaughan. [NY Daily News/Pitchfork]
