Shola Lynch's 'Free Angela & All Political Prisoners' Is 2013 Pan African Film Fest Closing Night Film

Shola Lynch’s Angela Davis documentary, Free Angela & All Political Prisoners. will be the closing night film at this year’s Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

It’s worth noting that this will be the film’s first public screening since its Toronto International Film Festival debut last Septmber, so those of you who’ll be attending the PAFF next month should consider yourselves lucky!

Free Angela & All Political Prisoners is described as:

… a feature-length documentary about Angela Davis and the high stakes crime, political movement, and trial that catapults the 26 year-old newly appointed philosophy professor at the University of California at Los Angeles into a seventies revolutionary political icon. Nearly forty years later, and for the first time, Angela Davis speaks frankly about the actions that branded her as a terrorist and simultaneously spurred a worldwide political movement for her freedom.

I screened the film last fall, while it was at TIFF, and reviewed it (read that review HERE if you missed it).

A trailer follows at the bottom of this post.

PAFF 2013 is set to take place at the new Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills 15 at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles, and will kick off festivities with a star-studded Opening Night Gala on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills 15 theatre.

Free Angela & All Political Prisoners will screen as the PAFF’s closing night film on February 17, 2013, at 6pm, at Rave Cinemas.

Ticket are $35 (includes after party), or $14.40 (for the screening only).
