AMC’s Developing Chris Hardwick’s ‘All Star Celebrity Bowling’ as a TV Series

AMC's Developing Chris Hardwick's 'All Star Celebrity Bowling' as a TV Series

Chris Hardwick, the man behind “The Nerdist” podcast and brand, is making serious headway in TV these days, and it’s not because he was a host of MTV ’90s game show “Singled Out.” Hardwick’s original “The Nerdist” podcast has spawned a network of other podcasts and a premium YouTube channel, and while Hardwick’s currently engaged in leaded AMC’s live post-“Walking Dead” talk show “Talking Dead,” the “Nerdist” specials he did for BBC America have also led to his getting a full season there slated to start on March 30th.

And today Hardwick’s Nerdist Industries announced that it has signed a deal with AMC to develop “All Star Celebrity Bowling,” the Nerdist YouTube series in which celebrity teams compete at, yes, bowling, with the winning proceeds going to charity.

Hardwick said “It has always been one of our main goals with Nerdist to grow content in the digital garden of the Internet which we could then evolve onto other platforms. AMC has been incredibly forward-thinking with us through this process. In addition to allowing us to distribute bonus segments of Talking Dead on the Nerdist YouTube Channel, we are excited to work with them to potentially bring All Star Bowling to television. PLATFORMS UNITE!”

AMC has, as Hardwick indicates, also made a deal with Nerdist Industries that will allow the latter’s YouTube channel to show bonus footage from “Talking Dead.” And if the network’s interest in “All Star Celebrity Bowling” weren’t evident from the deal, the fact that the top three episodes on the YouTube page for the show involve casts from AMC series should make it clear. Here’s the “Mad Men” episode, in which Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser, Rich Sommer and Matthew Weiner compete against a Team Nerdist that includes Weird Al Yankovic.
