‘Argo’ Tops 2013 BAFTA Awards

'Argo' Tops 2013 BAFTA Awards

Ben Affleck’s “Argo” led the winners of the 66th British Academy Film Awards (or BAFTAs), taking prizes for best film, best director, and best film editing. This continues the films momentum going into the February 24th Oscar ceremony, where it is certainly the frontrunner to win best picture.

Tom Hooper’s “Les Miserables” won the most awards overall with 4, including best supporting actress for Anne Hathaway. “Amour,” “Django Unchained,” “Life of Pi” and “Skyfall” (which won best British film) were also multiple winners.

Something of surprises were Emmanuelle Riva and Christoph Waltz’s wins in the actress and supporting actor categories. Both saw their Oscar chances heavily boosted in very tight races.
