“Argo” made a near clean-sweep of the Guild Awards, adding a WGA Award for screenwriter Chris Terrio to a haul that now includes top awards at the DGA, PGA, SAG and ACE Eddies. Terrio beat his Oscar rivals Tony Kushner (“Lincoln”) and David O. Russell (“Silver Linings Playbook”) in the adapted screenplay category.
Mark Boal won in the original category for “Zero Dark Thirty,” though notably his two closest Oscar competitors (one of whom will likely take home the Oscar) were not eligible: Quentin Tarantino (“Django Unchained”) and Michael Haneke (“Amour”).
Other winners included “Searching For Sugar Man” in the documentary category, and “Breaking Bad,” “Mad Men,” “Girls” and “Louie” in various television categories.
