Norwegian Action-Adventure 'Ragnarok' Acquired by Magnolia

U.S. distribution rights to the Norwegian action-adventure film “Ragnarok” have been acquired by Magnolia, the company announced earlier today. The deal was concluded during the European Film Market in Berlin, and was based on a three-minute promotional video shown during the event.

Directed by Mikkel Sandemose (“Cold Prey – The Beginning”) and starring Pål Sverre (“Kon-Tiki”), the film revolves around an archeologist’s journey to an Oseberg Viking Ship located between Norway and Russia, which he believes to contain the secrets to Norse mythology’s end of days prophecy.

“We are very excited about ‘Ragnarok,'” said Eamonn Bowles, President of Magnolia Pictures, “which has all the makings of a terrific action adventure. We are especially pleased to be working with our friends at TrustNordisk again to bring more great Scandinavian cinema to U.S. audiences.”

Magnolia, which has had a successful stream of Norwegian releases with “Headhunters” and “Troll Hunter,” has yet to state a release date for the film which is expected to see a domestic Norway release in October 2013.
