2013 Tribeca Film Festival to Open with 'Mistaken for Strangers,' Road Documentary on Band The National

The 12th annual Tribeca Film Festival (April17-28) will open with Tom Berninger’s road documentary “Mistaken for Strangers,” starring the director on a personal journey with his brother, frontman Matt Berninger, on tour with his Brooklyn-based band The National.

As the band travels from Berlin to Paris and even to the 2010 Obama rally in Madison, Wisconsin, Tom chronicles it all from the perspective of a roadie. His initial plans of making a rock documentary quickly shift as he realizes there is unforeseen drama and simmering tension between the band members.

The band will perform live following the film’s world premiere on April 17.

The festival’s full slate will be unveiled on March 5 and 6.
