Chris O'Dowd Headed To 'St. Vincent De Van Nuys' With Bill Murray

It’s been a pretty good week for Chris O’Dowd, and it’s capping off nicely. The first trailer for his HBO series “Family Treedropped, his indie flick “The Sapphires” starts rolling into theaters (our review) and it looks like he’s gearing up to work with Bill Murray on another effort that’s quickly building up a soild cast.

O’Dowd is in talks to join “St. Vincent De Van Nuys.”  First announced last summer, the Black List dramedy  by Ted Melfi, who will also direct, follows a 12-year-old boy who forms an unlikely friendship with his war-cranky, veteran neighbor (Murray). Once all the paperwork is signed, O’Dowd would play a Catholic priest, and the project would reteam with his “Bridesmaids” co-star Melissa McCarthy (in the role as the single boy’s Mom). So far, sounds pretty damn good.

No word yet on who will take the crucial part of the kid opposite Murray, but things are moving along for a July shoot on the $13 million movie, which means you can probably look for this on the festival circuit next year. [Deadline]
