New Web Series ‘Black Actress’ from Andrea Lewis (Fundraising)

New Web Series 'Black Actress' from Andrea Lewis (Fundraising)

You may remember actress Andrea Lewis from her contribution to the What’s Your Story? feature on S&A last year. The Degrassi: The Next Generation alum is now working on a new project, a mockumentary-style web series set to explore the struggles of black actresses.

The full description:

Black Actress will follow the life of “Kori Bailey” played by Andrea Lewis, as she struggles with the pursuit of getting her big break. Having mediocre success on a television series as a teenager, Bailey is relentless in following her dreams to become a star. Even with auditions being sparse and stereotypes running wild she refuses to get lost in the sauce and classified as just another “black actress”.

Hollywood Shuffle 2.0? We’ll soon find out, as the project is currently in the fundraising stage, with a little over a month to reach its $20,000 goal.

Lewis is writer and creator of the series along with a team of producers including Issa Rae, who plans to release it on her Issa Rae Youtube channel. Michael Pinckney (You’re Nobody Til Somebody Kills You) is set to direct.
