Watch: U.S. Trailer For Olivier Assayas' 'Something In The Air'

While it may seem like we’ve talked about Olivier Assayas‘ movie to death by this point — after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival last year followed by our two interviews with the director over the next few months — it’s actually now coming to theaters stateside. And it looks like the perfect drama to shake up your spring.

The U.S. trailer for “Something In The Air” has arrived, and it nicely transmits the aura of revolt, romance and rebellion the picture embodies. Tracking a coming-of-age tale against the backdrop of the French political awakening of the 1970s, the film presents a potent, and heightened blend of emotions, and that seems to come through nicely in this spot. And oh yeah, its classic rock soundtrack is pretty choice as well, and it’s a safe bet the tunes are ones that Assayas listened to himself.

“To recreate the mood of those times and to get it right, I used incidents of my youth because at least I was able to work on something solid. I kind of built the film from there, which means I constantly moved away from autobiography because you don’t really do a biography on film. It’s like fiction. When you write fiction you start from your own experience and you use your own emotions and that’s what makes it genuine in a certain way,” the director told us last year.

“Something in the Air” will hit theaters via Sundance Selects on May 3rd. Watch below.
