‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Goes Into Production, Starring Evans, Johansson, Jackson and Robert Redford

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Goes Into Production, Starring Evans, Johansson, Jackson and Robert Redford

As expected, Marvel has wasted no time ramping up production on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which is now underway in Los Angeles. Chris Evans is back as the beefy, star-spangled Captain, with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson on board as ubiquitous Avengers Black Widow and Nick Fury. Additionally, film icon Robert Redford is playing Agent Alexander Pierce.

The film picks up where 2011’s “First Avenger” left off, with ’40s-era Captain America (aka Steve Rogers) struggling to find his footing in the modern world. (This sounds rather similar to his arc in “The Avengers” — remember when the one reference he got was to “The Wizard of Oz”? — but never mind.)

Additional shooting locations will include Washington D.C. and Cleveland, Ohio.

“Captain America: Winter Soldier,” which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, will hit theaters on April 4, 2014.
