The cast continues to grow for Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, “Transcendence.” Morgan Freeman is in final talks to star alongside Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara. The sci-fi film centers on a scientist (Depp) whose brain is posthumously uploaded to a supercomputer.
It is penned by newcomer Jack Paglen, with Alcon Entertainment financing and producing the project.
Rebecca Hall beat out Emily Blunt and Kate Mara’s sister Rooney for the starring role opposite Depp. Principle photography is set to begin in May in Los Angeles.
Pfister is best-known as cinematographer for Christopher Nolan; he has shot seven of the director’s eight features. He won an Oscar for “Inception” in 2011. Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder will serve as executive producers on “Transcendence.”
Warner Bros. will release the film April 25, 2014.
