Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, the Austin, Texas-based cinema-eatery chain known for combining food, drink, film and events under one roof, will be opening its first theater in Lubbock, Texas. The company is partnering up with Triple Tap Ventures LLC, who currently operates the theater’s current Houston locations, to bring the Alamo Drafthouse experience to Lubbock.
The Lubbock theater will be located in the North Slide Square and will have eight screens, each equipped with both Digital and RealD 3D projection, as well as 35mm projection in a select few — for the true cinephiles. The location, which is being designed by Dallas, TX based 5G Studio Collaborative, will also have a neighboring stand-alone bar named Glass Half Full with original and classic cocktails and a world-class draft beer selection.
“We have strong ties to Lubbock,” Alamo Drafthouse Founder & CEO Tim League said. “We’ve talked about bringing the Alamo to Lubbock for years now, and I am very pleased to be partnering with Triple Tap Ventures to make it a reality.”

Currently movie-goers of multiple Texas cities, Winchester, Virginia and Kansas City all enjoy the luxuries of Alamo Drafthouse theaters, which include in-seat food and drink service throughout the feature. The entertainment brand has plans to build theaters in San Francisco, New York City, Yonkers, Colorado, Northern Virginia, and Michigan in addition to the Lubbock location.
The Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas Lubbock has been under construction for over two months and is expected to open in time for the 2014 summer movie season.
