Splitsider, the comedy news site from culture website The Awl, has launched Splitsider Presents, a digital distribution label for indie comedies. The first film to be released by the platform, “The Exquisite Corpse Project,” features five comedy writers of former sketch comedy group Olde English and is available to purchase for download and streaming now for $5.
Splitsider Presents will showcase independent comedy feature films, documentaries and standup specials at affordable prices. Works distributed by the company will receive editorial promotion on the site and be provided with licensing opportunities. The platform’s first film, “The Exquisite Corpse Project,” is directed by Ben Popik who started Olde English is about a group of comedy writers given the ultimate challenge: to read only the first five pages of a script and each write their own 15 pages to form into one movie.
