Fantasia Fest Announces Expansion of Frontières International Co-Production Market to Brussels’ Fantastic Film Festival

Fantasia Fest Announces Expansion of Frontières International Co-Production Market to Brussels' Fantastic Film Festival

The Frontières International Co-Production Market, which takes place every year as part of the Fantasia International Film Festival’s Industry Rendez-vous, announced today its expansion to the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, effectively making it a bridge between film markets in Montreal in July and Brussels in April, beginning this July.

Frontières will work within the two festivals, both of which hold specific focuses on genre films, and become the first co-production market to connect North America with Europe. Funding for the move was made possible from the European Commission’s MEDIA Mundus program, with Frontières being the only new initiative to receive funding this year.

Additionaly, Frontières has announced that the market’s second edition at Fantasia later this year will include 12 projects from Quebec and Canada, Europe, and the United States. Each project included will be a market premiere, and is aimed at becoming involved with a Canadian production element through the completed scripts offered during the market.

The official selections will be announced later this week. The 17th Fantasia International Film Festival will run from July 18 to August 6, with The 32nd Brussels International Film Festival following next April.
