Henry Cavill’s Superman appears to be poised and ready to strike in a new image from “Man of Steel,” revealing another take on Superman’s signature red and blue getup on the new Entertainment Weekly Summer Preview cover. Cavill takes on the square-jawed alien superhero in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” alongside a strong ensemble including Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Christopher Meloni, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne (trailer below).
Inside the magazine, EW reveals that there will be no Kryptonite whatsoever in Snyder’s film, but there will be the requisite “building-smashing, train-slinging, heat-vision-blasting battles.”
A previous version of the costume, one donned by Christopher Reeve in his fourth Superman feature, 1987’s “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace,” was sold at an auction in Beverly Hills this week for $25,600.
Cavill just told Total Film magazine that he was thrilled with the latest Superman garb: “I loved wearing the suit! You put it on every morning and you feel fantastic. I mean, you’re wearing a Superman suit, for goodness sake.” More details on the reboot in EW‘s latest issue. “Man of Steel” premieres June 14, 2013.
