Holy Scriptures! Make a Short in a Week, Win $1 Million

Brush up your scripture.

The 168 Film Project, a ten-year-old faith-based incubator for talent, challenges filmmaking teams to create a short film (ten minutes or less) in one week based on random prompts from holy scripture. Up to $1 million in cash and prizes (presented by EchoLight Studios) will be awarded at the 2013 film festival, which runs August 8-10 at the Performing Arts Center in Glendale, CA.

“168” is the number of hours in a week. Entry fees are $348 (discounted until May) and include free Festival Passes and the chance to screen.

Here’s more from the website:

Founded in 2003, the “168” brand of faith-based filmmaking welcomes artists of secular, Christian and other beliefs, who are willing to take the challenge to produce a short work based on “a Theme, a Verse and a Week” (plus 10 days pre-production for films). Artistic awards and life-changing challenges await you.

The jury for Project 168’s 2013 speed filmmaking competition include writer/producer Brian Bird (forthcoming “When Calls the Heart”), director David L. Cunningham (2006’s miniseries “The Path to 9/11”), Fox Television Post Production SVP Gary Hall and Susana Zepeder, senior director of video at Fandango.
