Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s ‘Don Jon’ Sets October Release Date

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's 'Don Jon' Sets October Release Date

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s feature directorial debut “Don Jon” (formerly “Don Jon’s Addiction”) has set a release date of October 18th, according to the latest report from Rentrak.

Acquired by Relativity out of the Sundance Film Festival (where it received generally positive reviews, including this one), the film had originally been slated for to-be-determined summer release date. But distributor Relativity — which reportedly bought the film for $4 million with a commitment to a wide release — has opted for the fall.

“Don Jon” follows the titular character (played by Gordon-Levitt himself), a thirty-ish guy whose only interests are the gym, his car and sex (both in real life and even more so via internet porn). Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore play women that shake up his life and relationship to sex and romance (in varying ways), while Tony Danza and Glenne Headly co-star as his parents.

The new release date definitely puts the film in a more awards-friendly release date arena, though it’s unlikely Relativity has too many golden hopes for the film.  As strong as it is, a Golden Globe nod or two in the comedy/musical categories is probably its greatest hopes.
