Los Angeles Children's Film Festival to Premiere Several Animated Features

Direct from Manhattan (where it is well known as the New York International Children’s Film Festival), our friends at GKids and the American Cinematheque are bringing their annual showcase of the latest and best animated features (and shorts) to the west coast.

The Los Angeles Children’s Film Festival will screen at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica from Friday April 26th through Sunday May 5th. In some cases this will be the only local public screening of several of these films – in fact, some of these films won’t even make it to home video. The LACFF is providing a unique opportunity to see animated features that may have no other outlet in the United States.

The festival will premiere several new anime films including Koji Masunari’s Welcome To The Space Show, Mamoru Hosoda’s Wolf Children and Hiroyuki Okiura’s A Letter To Momo. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis will introduce From Up On Poppy Hill on May 3rd. Other international features include Michel Ocelot’s Kirikou and The Men and The Women, The Day of The Crows, The Painting (Le Tableau) and A Monster In Paris – all of which are from France.

If you live in LA, I urge you to support this event. We need this to continue. Check the website for more details. Here are a few of the trailers for the films selected this year.
