Rachel McAdams Joins Cameron Crowe's Next Film Starring Emma Stone & Bradley Cooper

Rachel McAdams has carved out an interesting year ahead, wandering around with some horses in Terrence Malick‘s “To The Wonder” which arrives tomorrow, getting into some sexy intrigue with Noomi Rapace in Brian De Palma‘s B-movie sizzler “Passion,” getting some time travel and romance in with Richard Curtis‘ “About Time” while Anton Corbijn‘s thriller “A Most Wanted Man” will hopefully land on the festival circuit. And now she wants to close off her 2013 calendar by working with another big-time filmmaking talent.

McAdams has joined Cameron Crowe‘s still-untitled next film which will also star Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone. Previously reported to be a reworking of Crowe’s long-gestating “Deep Tiki,” that seems to be the case, with THR reporting this too will center on a military contractor (Cooper) on a top-secret military launch mission on assignment in Hawaii who teams with an Air Force pilot (Stone) and they plan to kibosh the operation. From there “mystical island forces and a talking a computer” all come into play….

Sounds outrageous? Maybe, but Deadline says that tonally the movie will fall somewhere between “Almost Famous” and “Jerry Maguire” which sounds fine to us. The movie is set up at Sony with production to begin in October, so we’ll keep our eyes on 2014 for this.
