Trailer Watch: Asghar Farhadi's Latest, 'The Past,' Stars Berenice Bejo and Tahar Rahim as Lovers in Turmoil

Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi won the Best Foreign-Language Oscar in 2012 for “A Separation,” and now the trailer for his much-anticipated next film, “The Past” (“Le Passe”), has landed. The film stars international hot tickets Berenice Bejo (“The Artist”) and Tahar Rahim (“A Prophet”), and again centers on the vagaries of long-term relationships.

An Iranian man (Ali Mosaffa) deserts his French wife (Bejo) and two children to return to his homeland. Meanwhile, his wife starts up a new relationship with a French man (Rahim), a reality Mosaffa’s character must confront when he travels back to France to discuss his wife’s request for a divorce.

“The Past” is currently without an American distributor, and the below trailer is without English subtitles (French speakers, you’re in luck!).

No doubt the film will show up at Cannes in May.
