“A few years ago, I was planning on killing myself in my garage, and now I’m doing the best thing I’ve ever done in my life in that same garage,” Marc Maron (played by Marc Maron) admits in the clip from “Maron” below to someone who’s really not his shrink. It’s a longer sneak peek at IFC’s new half-hour scripted comedy about and starring the titular stand-up comedian and podcaster. Followers of his podcast “WTF with Marc Maron” will recognize pretty quickly how closely the show keeps to his life (there’s even a cat named Boomer).
“Maron” premieres Friday, May 3 at 10pm ET/PT, and also stars Judd Hirsch, Nora Zehetner, Andy Kindler and Josh Brener. Mark Duplass, Illeana Douglas, Dave Foley, Jeff Garlin, Gina Gershon, Bobcat Goldthwait and others will guest star.
