Watch: Teenage Rebellion and Fake Kidnappings in Trailer For Sundance Hit 'The Kings of Summer'

After an extremely well received reception at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, becoming one of the hottest buys at the festival from distributor CBS Films, and releasing a great first teaser late last month, writer-director Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ coming of age comedy “The Kings of Summer,” has released its first full trailer after steadily building hype for the better part of the last three months.

The film follows the journey of three teens (Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso and Moises Arias) who as an act of independence from the mounting pressures of their lives and families, frame their kidnapping and spend the summer living off the land and building a house in the middle of the woods. The ensemble cast includes real-life couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, and Alison Brie as the adults in their lives.

Vogt-Roberts’s film came out of the festival with many heralding it as the arrival of a major new comedic force in the indie scene following the equally unanimous success of his TJ Miller-starring short film “Successful Alcoholics,” and CBS Films seem to be hoping for just that with their release of the film.

“The Kings of Summer,” is due in select theaters May 31st with an expansion following throughout the month of June via CBS Films. Watch the full trailer below:
