More of the glitz and drama of Baz Luhrmann’s much-anticipated “The
Great Gatsby” has spilled across the screen in a new UK trailer for the film. The 3D film, which opens the 66th Festival du Cannes on May 15 —
twelve years after Luhrmann’s last period spectacular “Moulin Rouge”
kicked off the fest — has its U.S. release on May 10.

The
adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel about the declining morals of
the roaring twenties has more ostentatious jazz than the novel itself,
as is Luhrmann’s signature. The first official trailer that surfaced
last year showed off this glimmering fun with flashy, confetti-filled
shots of lavish flappers and infinite champagne-flowing, accompanied by
Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church In the Wild” track. While the latest trailer still shows the fantastical parties of “Gatsby,” it reveals the
darker tragedy of the film. Check it out below:
