On September 19th, Austin’s beloved Alamo Drafthouse will kick off the latest installment of Fantastic Fest, and they’ve got a brand new location to put it in too. While the original plan was to hold the festival in the South Lamar location in which it’s been held in the past, the revamped theater won’t be completed in time due to construction delays.
Instead, the festival will take place in the equally new Alamo Lakeline location in Northwest Austin. It’s not the South Lamar, but the soon-to-be-completed theater does feature ten screens, a bar with a large selection of beers, and 35mm projectors. The fest’s coordinators assure that when choosing a 2013 spot, “we weighed impact on our in-town and out-of-town friends and guests of the festival, along with each option’s ability to adhere to the core values and spirit on which Fantastic Fest was built. In the end, we settled on a space that allows us to keep the Fantastic Fest family under one roof while still providing easy access for Austin residents and hotels for those traveling.”
They’re working out details for an events and arcade location. You can check out the press release and learn more about the festival here.
