The pilot, about three San Francisco-based friends (played by Frankie J. Alvarez, Murray Bartlett and “Glee” actor Jonathan Groff) exploring the highs and lows of life as part of a new generation of gay men, was executive produced by “Weekend” director Andrew Haigh, Sarah Condon (“Bored to Death”) and David Marshall Grant (“Smash”).
Lannan wrote the pilot, which was based on his feature script “Lorimer,” with Haigh directing. The series, which we’ll just go ahead and describe as a gay male answer to “Girls” before we have any evidence that such a comparison might be true, has been given an eight-episode order. Lannan, who produced “Interior. Leather Bar.,” will serve as co-executive producer on the series, with is being slated for a 2014 premiere, with production starting in the fall in San Francisco.
