“J STREET: the documentary”
Tweetable Logline:
Elevator Pitch:
lobby group offering a bold new vision for Middle East peace and
challenging the political establishments in Washington DC and Israel. J
Street dares to assert that a two-state solution is Israel’s only
viable future, and any peace deal will require the American
administration to take a more active role in ending the deadlock with
the Palestinians. J Street: The Documentary follows this
groundbreaking organization’s rise, highlighting the importance of
dissent in a democracy and the need for establishing a constructive
dialogue around our most divisive issues.
Production Team:
Ben Avishai – Producer / Director
Jeremy Leach – Cinematographer
Tim Raycroft – Editor
About the Production:
“As American Jews, the conflict between the
Israelis and the Palestinians is a deeply resonant issue for us. Like
many, we are at a loss as to why a final two-state solution cannot be
achieved. Amidst this backdrop we began to hear rumblings of a new group
that was emerging called J Street. We’ve followed J Street with
extraordinary access, filming behind-the-scenes during high-level
strategy meetings, long nights on the road, and at speaking events—some
of which see J Street representatives accused of being traitors and
anti-Semites. What emerges is a complex portrait of democracy at work.” — Ken Winikur
