Teaser For 'The Black Moses' - On L.O. Pindling, 1st Black Prime Minister Of The Bahamas

Actor Dennis Haysbert shared the below teaser trailer for an upcoming feature documentary from filmmaker Travolta Cooper, titled The Black Moses – no, not a film about Isaac Hayes, nor Harriet Tubman, nor Marcus Garvey, but on the life and times of L.O. Pindling (Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling), the first black Prime Minister of the Bahamas.

Pindling is regarded as the “Father” of the Bahamas, having led it to independence in 1973. He served as Prime Minister of the Bahamas from 1969 to 1992, and was leader of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) from 1965 to 1997 when he resigned from public life.

He died in 2000.

Travolta says that he’s in the final stages of post-production for the film, and, as you can see in the below teaser, expects to debut it this fall.

The Black Moses features, amongst other notables, commentary from Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, Sidney Poitier, Thabo Mbeki (for Nelson Mandela), Brian Mulroney, PJ Patterson, and Others.

Director Travolta notes that while Pindling is at the center of the film’s narrative, there’s a much bigger story within about the “Black Moses” mythology that can be found throughout the African Diaspora.
