Open Road Films has announced August 16, 2013 as the release date for “Jobs,” the first of two upcoming biopics on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. This is not the Aaron Sorkin-scripted, three-scene drama based on Walter Isaacson’s official biography of the late technology giant. That film is still being written. The ‘Jobs’ film arriving at the end of this summer stars Ashton Kutcher and premiered to mixed reviews at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
The film was originally given an April 19 release to coincide with Apple’s 37th anniversary, but was indefinitely delayed until now. More information can be found in the brief press release below:
‘Jobs’ details the major moments and defining characters that influenced Steve Jobs on a daily basis from 1971 through 2001. The film plunges into the depths of his character, creating an intense dialogue-driven story that is as much a sweeping epic as it is an immensely personal portrait of Steve Jobs’ life. Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, written by Matthew Whiteley, ‘Jobs’ was shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Russell Carpenter and produced by Mark Hulme.
‘Jobs’ stars Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons and Matthew Modine.
