'Eastbound and Down' Returning for Fourth and Final Season; HBO Sets Premiere Dates for 'Boardwalk Empire,' Larry David's New Movie

Turns out Kenny Powers has one more comeback in him. Despite worries that last year’s season finale of “Eastbound and Down” would also be the series finale, HBO announced today production is set to begin on the “fourth and final season” of the hit comedy starring Danny McBride and directed by David Gordon Green and Jody Hill. The series will return on Sunday, September 29 to its traditional time slot at 10pm.

The fourth season will pick up several years after the events in the third season finale, which [SPOILERS] involved Kenny Powers faking his own death to get out of the majors and return home to his two true loves, April and his child. Powers is “living the American Dream” with his family in North Carolina. No other details were revealed, but the season will consist of a full eight episodes.

HBO also announced the debut dates of a few other hot properties, including Larry David’s new TV movie, “Clear History.” The comedy — which David also co-wrote — features the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star as a disgraced former marketing executive looking for revenge against his former boss who made millions off an electric car company David’s character once had a stake in. The impressive cast list includes Jon Hamm, Eva Mendes, Kate Hudson, Michael Keaton, Liev Schreiber, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, Amy Ryan, and Philip Baker Hall. Directed by veteran film and television director Greg Mottola (“Superbad,” “The Newsroom”), “Clear History” premieres Saturday, August 10 at 9pm.

“The Office” co-creator Stephen Merchant’s new comedy series “Hello Ladies” is scheduled to begin at 10:30pm on September 29, following “Eastbound and Down.”
