Film Independent Fast Track 2013 Selections Include Projects From Nikyatu Jusu, A. Sayeeda Clarke, Others

Film Independent has announced the 22 filmmakers and 10 projects selected for its 11th annual Fast Track program at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fast Track Welcome Luncheon, during the ongoing Los Angeles Film Festival

The program is an intensive, three-day film-financing market. During programmed one-on-one meetings, participants are connected with established financiers, production companies, agents, managers and other film industry professionals who can move their current projects forward.

And congrats are in order for Nikyatu JusuA. Sayeeda Clarke and Vincent Harris – the 3 filmmakers of African descent that I immediately recognized – who are among the 22 filmmakers with represented projects.

Projects we’ve profiled that made the cut include Blair Doroshwalther’s Out in the Night.

Vincent Harris’ project (which he’s producing alongside Amy Hobby) was also awarded the Millennium Entertainment Fellowship, a $10,000 production grant, for their film Third Girl from the Left (more on that intriguing project in a future post).

The filmmakers will also receive year-round support from Film Independent.
