As part of the 2013 Indiewire Influencers series,
we shot behind-the-scenes footage of our subjects’ photo shoots inside
the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Each day we will release a new video
focusing on one of the 40 people or companies we see influencing the
independent film world right now.
Today, we take a look at RADiUS-TWC, The Weinstein Company’s new label headed by Tom Quinn and Jason Janego. With their extensive resumes that collectively include October Films, Samuel
Goldwyn, Magnolia, Landmark and NBC, the pair have
established the company as a force to be reckoned with. Their first release – last summer’s “Bachelorette” – earned over $8
million on VOD to become the highest-grossing pre-or simultaneous
release on-demand title to date. Last month they took Nicolas Winding
Refn’s “Only God Forgives” (which they bought back in March 2012) into
Cannes’ official competition. In the below video Quinn explains why VOD is a dirty word in the industry and looks to the future with “Only God Forgives.”
Read more about the duo on their company page, and check out the video below.
