J.J. Abrams to Make Unproduced Script From 'Twilight Zone' Creator Rod Serling Into Event Series

According to a report from Variety, J.J. Abrams (along with his production company Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV) has acquired the rights to “The Stops Along the Way,” an unproduced screenplay from “Twilight Zone” mastermind Rod Serling. The companies are shopping the project around to networks for a limited run series.

The prolific Abrams, whose began his career as a TV producer with “Felicity” and has since included “Alias,” “Lost,” “Person of Interest,” “Fringe,” “Revolution” — will have two new shows on air in the 2013-2014 season, the Alfonso Cuaron-created NBC drama “Believe” (see the trailer here) and Fox’s cops-in-the-future “Almost Human” (see the trailer here).

As for Serling, who died in 1975, his “Twilight Zone” is still one of the most enduring series of all time, placing third on the WGA’s list of the best-written TV series of all time. “The Stops Along the Way” was the last script Serling finished before passing away.
