Wow! Here’s a documentary I want to see. Joanna Sokolowski is very close to making her goal on Kickstarter and I’m hoping to spread the word here to help make it happen. Sokolowski is associate producer for Very Semi-Serious, a documentary about the people and culture surrounding New Yorker cartoons.
Very Semi-Serious has been in the works for six years. Leah Wolchok is the director, and there’s lots more info at their website. Wolchok’s working closely with New Yorker cartoon editor Bob Mankoff, and has shot much behind-the-scenes footage at the magazine and inside the studios and homes of many beloved print cartoonists. This one gets my strongest endorsement.
