“Bug People“
Tweetable Logline:
husband suffers a fatal heart attack while swimming with their son.
Elevator Pitch:
loss and family in a rural lakeside community off the Appalachian Trail.
It follows a family as they try to grapple with the death of their
father and husband (a bug exterminator), while having to quickly adapt
in order to stay afloat. Each character in this multifaceted narrative
faces unique challenges: June, the mother, is unemployable, her teenage
daughter Dani must work at a wallpaper factory to make ends meet, and
Remy, their youngest child attempts to fill the roll of “man of the
house”.

——Emmy Award-winner Hunter Baker is a Director of Photography and
Producer. In 2012 Hunter was the recipient of the ARRI Volker Bahnemann
Cinematography Award. Since 2008 Hunter has worked for 7-time Emmy Award
winning director of photography Thom Stukas. In 2010 he lensed the
feature documentary, Lifting Dreams, (Dir. Barbara Malmet) in Northern
India. In 2012 Hunter has worked as camera operator on the feature film
At Any Price (Dir. Ramin Bahrani) for DP Michael Simmonds (Goodbye Solo,
Deep Powder).

About the Production:
poem sheds light on a teenager’s memory of her exterminator grandfather.
As a director, I tend to focus on small town folklore and the rich
tapestry of family life. This story provided an excellent canvas for me
to work with these ideas. With Bug People we hope to open a window to a
tiny world with characters, places and visuals rarely seen on film. My
goal is take audiences on a journey with universal themes but with a
unique, visually alluring world that few people get to see. — Jordan Fein
