The folks at SnagFims Inc., Indiewire’s parent company, have been putting in long hours in preparation for a game-changing overhaul of the film streaming site, which is set to launch in early Summer before rolling out to mobile devices. In preparation for the big reveal, SnagFilms today announced the private beta launch of the new experience the site offers — meaning you can sneak a peek at the changes they have in store.
Already four million viewers strong, SnagFilms has for five years been the go-to place to stream great indie content for free online. The new SnagFilms experience is designed to help people find more free-to-watch narratives and documentaries online via new social discovery features that are customizable for each viewer.
“People are naturally interested in films recommended by friends or their favorite critics, yet discovering movies available on-demand is often limited to the latest Hollywood releases,” said Rick Allen, founding CEO of SnagFilms. “That might work for major blockbuster movies, but thanks to the new SnagFilms experience, people can easily find gems within a vast offering of classics, indies and hits. Our platform connects you with other fans in ways that are extremely social, well-curated and personalized for each of our users.”
