Following its world premiere at the South By Southwest Film Festival earlier this year, “The Punk Singer” has landed North American distribution with Sundance Selects. The rock documentary centers on Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of punk band Bikini Kill and dance-punk trio Le Tigre and who went on to become a pivotal figure in the riot grrrl movement of the 1990’s. Through the use of extensive archival footage as well as intimate interviews, “The Punk Singer” recounts Hanna’s ascension into the forefront of musical and cultural awareness.
