'The Americans,' 'Breaking Bad' Top the 2013 TCA Awards Nominations

The Television Critics Association, made up of more than 200 journalists in the US and Canada, has for nearly three decades saluted the best in the year in TV in its annual TCA Awards, based on nominations by members. This year’s nominees, announced today, are spread across all four broadcast networks, PBS, 13 cable networks and, for the first time ever, the streaming service Netflix. FX leads the way with seven nominations, CBS, NBC and HBO each have six and AMC has five — and the list includes some pleasant surprises, like the terrific “Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany.

The TCA also nominates candidates for two longterm achievement awards — the Heritage Award, to a program that has culturally or socially impacted society, and a Career Achievement Award to an individual who has influenced the medium through his or her work.

The winners, which will be voted on by TCA members, will be announced at an invite-only presentation on Saturday, August 3 at the TCA Summer Press Tour. Here are the nominees:
